si juan, ang diyablo at ang limang milyong boto

It's a musical play that portrays the Philippine society and governance. it shows the current politics we have and the participation of youth in election. Election is fast approaching and it's only in our back now. This play is perfect for the youth to see, particularly to those who are first time voters. The play presents a various characters that embodies the Philippine society.

Juan Tamad represents the typical filipino youth- sluggish, lazy to the point that he is lazy to pick the guava in the tree, apathetic in election process, who doesn't like to involve himself to the issue of the nation. Later, juan begins to realize the importance to be involve in electoral process, and the problems of nation. On the other hand, Dyablo is the narrator of the play and the evil side of Juan. he discourages Juan to involve in the electoral process and in the nation. Other characters in the play represents also the typical filipinos we have in Philippines, like the candidates for the Pinuno ng bayan.

The play uses a colorful dialouges, which is full of metaphors. they tend to exaggerate the sentence and fallacies in the statement, like "ang layo ng presinto kuweba JT. napakalayo. two blocks away", "Parang perya ang eleksyon!", Ay eto na!

This play tend to expose the kind of dirty election we have, those who have billions of money will surely win, a corrupt government and the apathetic people. I cannot blame them if they are being apathetic, the kind of government and governance we have? who would not?, it shows only that people in the Philippines are sick and tired of the broken promises of the officials. but there is still hope for us, we can still turn upside down the situation we have. It should start in oneself and convince them to participate in this coming election, make them realize that every vote of the youth is equivalent to a better nation.
